Values shape us and provide us with guardrails for how we should behave. How we conduct ourselves in private and in public. How our audio (what we say) must match our video (what we do). Like guardrails on a highway, it provides a safety boundary and keeps us on the road.
Value denotes the degree of importance of some thing or action, with the aim of determining what actions are best to do or what way is best to live, or to describe the significance of different actions. Value systems are proscriptive and prescriptive beliefs; they affect ethical behaviour of a person or are the basis of their intentional activities (Wikipedia).
I took some time during our movement control order (MCO) to carve our values and statements. They serve as a reminder to us more than anyone else and I hope it’ll inspire you to write yours as well.
Faith
We are people of faith. Our faith shapes the foundation of our work. We live by faith.
Our lives are built on the foundation of faith. It shapes us and forms the inner core of our being. I am a person of faith. My faith teaches me to look beyond the things I see and comprehend in the natural world and commit my ways to God. I may have plans, but it is God who directs my path.
Living by faith allows me to lift my eyes beyond the present circumstances. It provides a shift in perspective of looking beyond what is today and into the possibilities of tomorrow.
Hope
We have hope for a better future. Our work adds value toward that future. We are inspired by hope.
In our engagements, we always hope for a better outcome. No person or organisation is beyond help. Every person and organisation who wants to be helped, can be helped to the degree that they are willing to be helped. We seek to add value and make a difference in building the desired future.
Hope inspires us to keep believing in people and organisations to succeed. To journey with them in discovering their purpose, developing it and living it out intentionally.
Love
We are created equal. Our work values fair opportunities for all. We are motivated by love.
Everyone deserves a chance to excel and succeed in life. At the heart of it, we value people as people, and not a resource. We see people and organisations like uncut rough diamonds - waiting for their opportunity to be shaped into a beautiful gemstone.
Everyone is uniquely created with untapped giftings and capabilities.
